25 Christmas Blog Post Ideas

It’s December first and you’re officially allowed to get excited about Christmas – you have my blessing! Go crazy: play your Christmas tunes, wrap your presents, and spread the festive cheer!

I know many bloggers are now officially off to do blogmas – blogging every day until Christmas. That’s 24 or 25 blog posts from now until the big day, which is very hard work. And  I know even more bloggers would like to do blogmas but fear that they will run out of blog post ideas and be unable to complete the project. Well fear not, for I have 25 Christmas Blog Post Ideas to share with you right now!

25 Christmas Blog Post Ideas

#1. Gift Guides

Arguably the most common type of post seen around Christmas, but nonetheless the most useful. People’s ideas of a ‘good gift’ vary depending on who they’re buying for, the type of person they are buying for, their budget, their location, etc., so you can never have too many ideas to choose from.

In fact, why not do several gift guides categorised by the recipient or cost? I did 5 of these this year, sorted into gifts for him, for her, for the kids, for the parents, and for the blogger. Try to include as many choices as you can, to truly help your readers and keep them on your site a little bit longer.

#2. Wish Lists

Sounds like the polar opposite of the gift guides (and it is, I guess) but it can often have the same inspirational effect on your readers as a gift guide would. After all, you’re not just collecting random gift ideas, you’re stating that you want each and every one of these items, showing that they’re truly desired (if only by one person). But if you’re listing something, try to make it easy for people to find it in real life. Provide appropriate links and prices wherever possible.

#3. Tips for Finding the Best Deals

For many people, Christmas is a financially difficult time as they try to provide their family with many presents and treats despite their low income (or through simply choosing to minimise costs). If you have great tips on shopping on a budget, places to find great deals, or a list of shops offering coupon codes, now might be the perfect time to share.

#4. DIY Tree Ornaments

Are you a DIY wizard? Share your skills and teach people how to dress their tree for less, while adding a more personal touch, and maybe getting the kids involved in the process.

#5. Family Traditions

Christmas is a time of many different family traditions, so why not share yours? If you have any funny stories related to these traditions, share them in the hopes of entertaining your readers, but don’t fret if they’re not amusing. Remember that many new families are formed every year, and they’re looking to start some new traditions of their own.

#6. The Ultimate Christmas Playlist

People like to do their December house tasks accompanied by some Christmas tunes, but many don’t have the time or the inspiration to create the perfect playlist. So share your favourite Christmas songs and maybe even share a link to the playlist on Spotify or YouTube to make your readers’ lives easier.

#7. How to Have a Less Stressful Christmas

Christmas is a stressful time for anyone who’s hosting guests or preparing the food. So if you have any tips on how to reduce the stress on the day (what can be prepared in advance, what takes a lot of effort and yields little results, etc.) I’m sure it wouldn’t go unappreciated.

#8. Gift Wrapping Inspiration

The vast amount of choices for ribbons and wrapping paper in stores can be a little overwhelming and many people don’t know what colours and styles to combine for best results. So share some of your favourite combinations (or collect the best ideas from Pinterest) and help your readers wrap some beautiful presents.

#9. DIY Present Ideas

Whether it’s a hamper filled with store-bought products, homemade candy canes, or a jar full of hot chocolate essentials, let your readers know how to give a great gift with a personal touch.

#10. Must-Watch Christmas Movies

Share your favourite Christmas movies that are guaranteed to get people into the festive spirit.

#11. Gift Guide: Things to Avoid

Do something a little different and tell people what gifts should be avoided. Include things like perfume and jewellery (which tend to be given far too often without knowing the person’s preferences, and often show little effort), and other ‘generic’ presents that people don’t actually need.

#12. Unusual Recipe

If your Christmas dinner includes something delightful that is not a part of the typical Christmas meal, share the recipe and encourage people to try something new. Maybe it’ll become one of their little traditions, which they’ll have you to thank for.

#13. Christmas Day Family Activities

Create a list of family activities to occupy children and adults alike on Christmas Day. From board games, to karaoke, to Christmas movies – list everything you can think of. Except Monopoly or Uno. Those games will tear families apart.

#14. Favourite Christmas Products

Every year shops release some limited items that disappear after Christmas, and many of us who don’t frequent these stores unless looking for something specific, miss out on these wonderful limited edition items. If you keep a running list of Christmas product lines, write a post and share them!

#15. How You Feel About Christmas

Write a slightly more personal post and get into the details of why you love or hate Christmas, what you love most and what you wish was different. If you’re writing a positive post, it can be very contagious and spread the Christmas cheer!

#16. How to Get Into the Christmas Spirit

For some people Christmas seems like nothing more than a drain on their finances, patience, and nerves. And I totally get it. But even they would like to enjoy Christmas(or at the very least, have it pass by as smoothly as possible). Any help you may have to offer would surely be appreciated.

#17. What to Bring to a Christmas Dinner

Have you ever had a Christmas dinner hosted by someone else? Then you’ll know that some things are expected while others are completely inappropriate to bring. Make a list of each!

#18. Christmas Jumpers: Genius or Stupid?

Christmas jumpers are a bit of a controversial item. We love to hate them and we hate to love them, but what’s the verdict? Share your opinions in an entertaining and “factual” way, and let your readers fight over the right answer in the comments.

#19. The Worst Presents You Have Ever Received

We’re all nosy and we all love to know that we’re not the only ones who have gone through the awful experience of receiving a gift you didn’t like, yet having to put on a smile and thank the person anyway. The more entertaining (even if you have to exaggerate a little) the better, in this case! So don’t hold back and tickle your readers with laughter.

#20. Must-Have Foods on the Christmas Table

What are your favourite snacks and meals to eat on Christmas Eve or Day? Do you like something that others despise? What foods would you serve even though you don’t like them, simply because they’re a must-have for others?

#21. How to Enjoy Christmas as an Adult

The magic of Christmas is often lost for the older generations, and it’s only reignited with the arrival of their own children. If you have any tips on how to enjoy Christmas more as an adult, share, share, share!

#22. The Perfect Christmas

Describe your perfect Christmas day from start to finish and spread the festive cheer!

#23. DIY Christmas Wreath

Christmas wreaths are expensive but we all love to flick through Pinterest and lust over the beautiful decorations we don’t have. Thing is, wreaths are not necessarily all that hard to make. So if you know how to make them (or if you can learn very quickly), share your wisdom and help decorate some homes with a beautiful Christmas decoration!

#24. Best Christmas Cracker Jokes

Make a list of top 10 or 20 Christmas cracker jokes. Go for genuinely good ones or the corny kind that make you cringe – whatever makes you laugh, share it!

#25. Christmas Blog Post Ideas

Spread some inspiration to fellow bloggers and share some of your own Christmas blog post ideas!

    1. Thank you very much! I know some people are posting every 2 days, if you’re too busy for proper blogmas 🙂 But of course, post as often as you can manage without it cutting into other activities!
